There was always a time for flowers to bloom
As the sun rose higher in the sky
Then golden leaves fell
And November winds left
a brittle brown canvas
On cold forest floor
And sweet summer –
far away
Then storms came
And lightning sparked canvas to flame
Dark smoke rose against the sun
And flowers burned by love – they won’t survive
But the wise ones know – they must burn while alive
